Interview with Kit McMahon
We interview the then-CEO of ACPET (now ITECA).
aXcelerate Day 2024 was our biggest event yet, bringing together over 400 members of the aXcelerate community. A huge, heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated!
This year, we announced new and improved product features and capabilities that will help you transform the experience for your learners, trainers, assessors, supervisors and workers.
Our commitment remains steadfast in enhancing the capabilities and fundamental experiences of our system, with three key themes of product transformation:
Let’s get into the updates!
At the core of our ecosystem is our Student Management System. Recognising the varied needs of our users, we’re committed to enhancing the user experience in key areas of the system. There are aspects of the student management system you rely on daily, and we want to ensure these everyday interactions are as seamless and functional as possible.
The new Media Library offers a streamlined way to organise and manage image files directly within your account, elevating the assessment authoring process. With intuitive tagging, advanced search, and filtering options, finding and adding the right images is faster and simpler than ever. Now, keeping your media files organised is as effortless as it is effective.
Driven by feedback from new and experienced aXcelerate users, we're making impactful upgrades to system navigation to keep pace with the platform's growing features.
Our aim is to make it easier for you to find what you need, streamline training for new team members, and create space for our expanding capabilities—without compromising on user experience.
Rest assured, we’ll keep you well-informed as we approach this release. Make sure your key users have the right communication preferences set in your aXcelerate System Settings.
We’re also introducing a quick-search tool that allows you to swiftly find contacts, navigate menu items, and more as it evolves. Plus, we’ll be adding an AI assistant for immediate support. Look out for this streamlined search experience, arriving exclusively with the new navigation menu.
We’re excited to introduce a new interface for viewing, filtering, and searching workshops—one of the key building blocks of aXcelerate. Navigating your workshops will be easier and faster as we combine the existing ‘Workshop Search’ and ‘Upcoming Workshops’ pages into a sleek, uncluttered design.
We’re creating a brand new, fresh experience for your corporate customers and employers who want to book their staff into your training courses.
Showcase your courses in the best possible light, making it easy for clients to book learners and track their progress.
We’re also simplifying the enrolment process for clients. Then, right from aXcelerate, clients can drill down to workshop or learner levels to see how everyone is progressing.
Streamline your workflow with automatic award issuance through aXcelerate, increasing productivity and speeding up the certificate delivery to learners. This feature allows aXcelerate to automatically issue accredited awards, ensuring learners receive their certificates sooner. We’re excited to announce that this feature will enter open beta in November!
Keep track of important system changes with our new Audit Logging feature—a crucial tool for compliance and oversight of your account. This will be the framework for the system to start logging important information throughout your account and will progressively include more features over time.
Workshop Sessions empowers admins with more control over what information is shared with learners and trainers regarding workshops. The increased granularity also allows a more accurate display of information, including time zone details. This feature will be available to all clients by the end of 2024.
At aXcelerate, our mission is to leverage AI technology to streamline your workflows and enhance efficiency across various tasks. We want to empower your team to drive operational excellence with AI at your side. Read more about our AI Principles here.

The AI marking assistant provides trainers with the option to generate suggested results and feedback for Short Answer questions. By automatically comparing a learner’s response to model answers and assessor information, we aim to give assessors a head start when marking – all within aXcelerate.
So far, over 23,000 short answer questions have been marked in our beta program!
Generate questions from a prompt, via text or PDF upload. Currently, we support multiple-choice, multi-answer, and short-answer question types, with plans to expand supported question types and rich content.
Get marketing-ready email and SMS templates drafted quickly, complete with field suggestions. You can regenerate templates to see how different prompts yield varied results, providing a helpful starting point for your email templates, especially if you're not familiar with HTML.
Easily access AI assistance from anywhere within the app. This will also involve a drive to enhance our help documentation to improve AI response accuracy.
Introducing a trainable AI tutor that will assist learners as they progress through their courses. This feature allows you to create knowledge bases specific to your RTO and its courses.
Before we dive into the announcements, here’s a quick recap of what we’ve recently released in the LMS:
Assessors are at the forefront of your organisation, often navigating multiple systems, where every click can add to their workload. To ensure happy assessors deliver better training, we’re focused on simplifying navigation, reducing steps, and providing a modern, consistent experience.

We’re excited to announce our upcoming content sharing service, set to launch in 2025. Initially, this will allow for easy copying of assessments between accounts—ideal for multi-RTOs and organisations with multiple bodies.
Following that, you’ll be able to purchase content created by our partners and clients, making it even easier to access ready-to-use materials in your LMS.

Milestones in Work-Based Learning offers a better way of tracking progression by giving you the tools to clearly set the criteria for success. This will also enable a better experience for third-party verification of competencies and connect the end-to-end learning journey for on-the-job training, by embedding Work-Based Learning within Learning Plans.
First impressions count, and your enrolment experience directly impacts learner success. Our upcoming Learner Onboarding feature, set for open beta in 2025, aims to collect key details in the Learner Portal while reducing friction from the upfront enrolment, and providing visibility into learner progress.
Enterprises face multiple challenges, including limited visibility of workers, complex Training Needs Analysis, and the laborious administration of various systems. In response to these challenges, we are thrilled to announce the upcoming launch of aXcelerate Skills, available for early access in 2025.
Skills is designed for organisations that require effective tracking of worker competencies, prioritising safety and compliance. Skills will seamlessly integrate with our existing products, providing a uniquely tailored experience for enterprise clients.
As we wrap up, we want to emphasise that this is just the beginning. Thank you for participating in aXcelerate Day and for your ongoing support and engagement. Together, we will shape the future of learning and training. We look forward to sharing more about these exciting developments with you in the near future!
